Gram Nyayalaya or RDC

The Gram Nyayalayas Act, 2008 lets a Gram Nyayalaya try the criminal offences listed in the Act's First Schedule, broadly offences punishable with up to two years' imprisonment and some theft and stolen-property cases of small value, and it tries them summarily.

Everything above that, and every bail application above the magistrate, is heard at RDC. Which court has your case is decided by the court system, not by choice. The summons, and the case details on the eCourts app, show which court it is with.

Modinagar and the courts at RDC

Modinagar, earlier Begumabad, was renamed in 1945 after Gujarmal Modi, who set up the Modi group's industries there in 1933. It is a municipal town in Ghaziabad district on the Delhi to Meerut road, the headquarters of its own tehsil, with a station on the Delhi to Saharanpur railway line and RRTS stations on the Delhi to Meerut corridor.

The Gram Nyayalaya at Modinagar is a court set up under the Gram Nyayalayas Act, 2008 for smaller civil and criminal matters. Whether your case belongs there or at RDC depends on the offence and the area; check before filing.

Chamber 817 is on the same campus. Directions from Modinagar to Chamber 817.
